Volunteers are an essential part of the operation of the Family Resource Center. Our ability to provide services to the community is dependent upon the commitment and support of our volunteer staff. Volunteers contribute time, personal resources, special skills, and continue to be a motivating force in the continuation of this program. The first step toward becoming a volunteer is to complete a Volunteer Application Form. After we receive the form, we’ll talk by phone to answer your questions and set up an interview. Volunteers will complete various levels of training, depending upon the type of volunteer work chosen.
Request a Volunteer/Internship Application Form by emailing VOLUNTEER@frcinc.org
Additional Information:
With a staff of 12 covering the counties of Bland, Carroll, Grayson, Smyth, Wythe and Galax city, we serve hundreds of people in crisis each year. This would not be possible without help from our community volunteers who have a passion for our mission. Regardless of age, education level or beliefs, there is something for everyone to do at FRC. Volunteers may assist FRC staff members as an individual volunteer or in groups on things such as helping with awareness events or activities, maintenance, upkeep of our outdoor treatment spaces, etc..
Examples of volunteer opportunities include:
- Special Events
- Awareness Events & Projects
- Care Project
- Sort/organize donations.
- Outdoor Maintenance (planting and tending to flowers, trimming small bushes, and other light landscaping work).
- Building Maintenance/Repair helping keep our interior and exterior buildings in good condition.
Volunteer Training is offered 2-3 times per year. This extensive, interactive, pre-service training provides trainees with a wide variety of instruction revolving around family and sexual violence, crisis intervention and helping skills.
